Toronto Naturopath, Sherry Chen

Sherry J. Chen is a Naturopath based in Toronto. She started her Naturopathic career working at Elixir Spa as the on-site Naturopathic Doctor. In 2004, she opened her own naturopathic clinic and named it Journey To Cure.

-- "Cure for an illness is a journey that most of us need to take, and it is along this journey that illness gives us the opportunity to further explore ourselves. The journey allows us to create our own revelations and enlightenments such as a physical illness may be the beacon in rough waters that is trying to direct our attention to our mental/emotional demons. "--

She was raised in a family that practices the art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which later greatly influenced her career path and her decision to become a Naturopathic Doctor with special interests in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her first encounter with acupuncture, was when her dad put some acupuncture needles in her leg to alleviate excruciating stomach pain that could not be relieved by any conventional means. This left a deep impression on her, even though she was only 8 years old at the time. After completing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology (McMaster University), she applied to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM)--Toronto, Canada. She views naturopathic medicine as a field of medicine that bridges both scientific knowledge and the ancient arts of healing. In May 2002, Sherry graduated from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and went onto studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture) at The People's Hospital in Guangdong, China . Her training in acupuncture includes cosmetic and weight loss acupuncture. Her interests are in gastrointestinal disorders, asthma/allergies and chronic pain. She has also dealt with a wide range of other disorders and diseases from acute cases such as the common cold/flu to very debilitating diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis. Sherry is also a trained Bowen Therapist. She is friendly, energetic and empathic, and now practices in Toronto's Don Mills and Lawrence area.
