Mission

Our hyperhidrosis specialty clinic was created to give a choice to clients looking for alternative treatments for hyperhidrosis, a condition that affects about 800 000 Canadians. Hyperhidrosis is diagnosed as either primary (unknown cause) or secondary ( due to another illness). My first encounter with hyperhidrosis was with a first cousin of mine living in China. Her hands would always be moist and continuously dripping with sweat under certain situations. At that time I was still in University studying biochemistry but she left me with a lasting impression of how difficult life must be to always have your palms moist or wet. She is an accountant in China and at that time, you still had to count money by hand. She would tell me how the money would be soaked in her sweat at the end of the day when she was tallying up the total for her boss. When she started dating, it was also difficult for her because she could not hold her boyfriend's hand. Many things that most of us take for granted on a daily basis becomes difficult to deal with even for something so simple as shaking someone's hands.

There are many conventional treatments out there. From botox to sergury. At the end of this page are links to other sites that will give you more info on conventional treatments.

Our clinic is the only hyperhidrosis specialty clinic in Canada that uses alternative treatments to address excessive sweating. We are getting inquiries about our treatments from as far down south as Florida and across Canada and even some international inquiries.

Chinese HerbsOur clinic uses individualized treatments based mainly on traditional chinese medicine. Acupuncture is incorporated if there is a nervous disorder associated to the sweating. Acupuncture points are specifically selected for it's ability to reduce sweat as well as points that constitutionally support the body.

We will work with your diet and make dietary recommendations to help with decreasing foods that can trigger sweating.

AcupunctureThe use of natural treatments to address hyperhidrosis should be the first line of treatment before doing some of the more invasive and painful treatments that I have seen some clients do before coming in to see us. Our treatments not only deals with the sweating but most clients find that they reap other health benefits along the way too.

Success Cases

CASE 1 - Axillary Sweating

36 year old with axillary/armpit sweating for "as long as she can remember". Described the sweating as large circles of sweat that would stain the clothes. Patient felt insecure to raise her arms and was always consciously aware of what to be wearing or not wearing. Had several botox treatments done with each passing botox treatment the duration of being sweat free would decrease.

Treatment: 10 specially formulated herbal decoctions were taken with dietary recommendations.

Results and Client comments: Still feel some moisture but doesn't have the large wet stains on shirt any more and have out lasted botox treatments.

CASE 2 - Axillary Sweating

32 year old with axillary sweating for 7 years. Only tried dermatologist recommended anti-perspirant with no changes after use.

Treatment: 17 bags of herbal decoctions were taken. Client noted decrease sweating after first 3 bags of herbs. By the end of the 17th bag, there was no sweating reported. But patient now noticed that when certain foods were introduced into the diet, it did lead to some sweating returning. Once the aggrevating food was removed, the patient was sweat free again.

Will follow up in 3 months.

CASE 3 - Axillary Sweating

34 year old with axillary sweating that started after taking on new stressful job. Reports being fatigued, difficult to lose weight even with exercise. Used many topical products with no change in symptoms. Basal body temperature was low.

Treatment: 9 Bags of herbal decoctions were taken, homeopathic and other supportive supplements were used to address the low basal body temperature ( low functioning thyroid).

Results: Greatly improved (90%) but still some moistness remains. Continue to work with client to normalize basal body temperature and further support the body.

CASE 4 -- Facial Sweating

43 year old male with facial sweating around the crown of the head. Sweating became an issue for the patient in his early 20's. Described the sweat as water with no odour. Had 1 treatment of Botox done with 20% improvement and subsequent return of symptoms. He also had tried an oral medication that was too drying ie. dried out his mouth and other mucous membranes.

Treatment: A herbal decoction formula was prescribed along with acupuncture and vitamins based on his symptoms that he was presenting with and a one week diet diary that he filled out. Patient did not have acupuncture done do to time constraints.

Follow-up with patient in 3 months and patient reported 25% improvement, ie sweating did not act up as quickly and the amount of sweating decreased. The percentage improvement might have been more if client compliance was better. Client only had consumed 1 bag of the decoction with the 25% improvement reported.

Re -Recommended to take some more herbs and follow up in another 3 months.
