Sherry Chen, BSc., ND, Acupuncturist

In 2011, after giving long consideration of her career as a Naturopathic Doctor, Sherry has decided on closing the clinic operations (June 2011) so that she can focus on enjoying time with her baby daughter and her family.  It was a very tough decision for her but was strongly influenced by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan.  It really helped her to see clearly what is most important.  As her passion is still to help people, she will keep this site to provide  a resource of information for others and will continue writing newsletters with health tips, health articles and her creative blog.  She also hopes that the site will bring awareness to other Naturopaths and holistic practitioners about Hyperhidrosis.  Sherry currently is finishing an e-book about postpartum depression ( something she had to face herself) and will spend time writing her second book about hyperhidrosis.

She is a member of BowenWork Canada, The Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, in good standing with the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy (BDDT-N) but currently listed as Inactive.

BIOGRAPHY

Sherry J. Chen was a Naturopath based in mid town Toronto in the Don Mills and Lawrence area.   In 2003, she opened Journey To Cure Naturopathic Clinic.

– “Cure for an illness is a journey that most of us need to take, and it is along this journey that illness gives us the opportunity to further explore ourselves. The journey allows us to create our own revelations and enlightenment such as a physical illness may be the beacon in rough waters that is trying to direct our attention to our mental/emotional demons. “–

She was raised in a family that practices the art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which later greatly influenced her career path and her decision to become a Naturopathic Doctor with special interests in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her first encounter with acupuncture, was when her dad placed acupuncture needles in her leg to alleviate excruciating stomach pain that could not be relieved by any conventional means. This left a deep impression on her, even though she was only 8 years old at the time. After completing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Psychology (McMaster University), she applied to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM)–Toronto, Canada. She views naturopathic medicine as a field of medicine that bridges both scientific knowledge and the ancient arts of healing. In May 2002, Sherry graduated from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and went onto studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture) at The People’s Hospital in Guangdong, China . Her training in acupuncture includes cosmetic and weight loss acupuncture. Her interests are in hyperhidrosis, fertility and postpartum care.  Sherry is also a trained Bowen Therapist.
